I had a bit of trouble getting this weeks comic finished and posted. Besides the issue with my arm, there are lots of things fighting for my attention right now. The largest change for us is that we will be moving in a month. I am very excited about this! ^_^

A couple weeks ago Eve and I dug out the NES and I of course wanted to play Dr. Mario, it took a bit of work but we eventually got the little guy working. Since then I have also found my GBA copy of the game am now playing it a bunch on my DS… I really wonder if I will ever tiere of it considering I have been playing it since I was five or so. I even played it a bit at PAX, and kicked ass too. With that said, how about I finally discuss a bit about what happened on our adventures in PAX-land.

Alright, so a combination of me being really busy and kinda lazy has contributed to this very late and short write-up about PAX 2009. It was so much fun seeing all the demos and running around in costume (not that many people dress up), and there was quite a few other TF2 groups to battle with. ^____^ Probably the coolest thing we did in our costumes was play Beatles Rockband before release (I’m on drums behind Heavy).

When we weren’t playing games or taking pictures in our costumes, we spent a lot of time on our DS’s playing dicktochat and Tetris. Also, those beanbag DS areas were divine (creepy when people were talking pictures of me sleeping though). I am now on the search for a beanbag chair of my own.

We also joined in on a NDS world record attempt. The previous record for number of DS’s being played at once was somewhere around 300, they smashed that record with over 900 at PAX.

An interesting observation Eve and I had while walking around the exhibitors hall was that the majority of new MMO’s on the floor look very similar if not identical to World of Warcraft. Now maybe I’m just being ignorant, but flipping the WoW UI does not seem to make it ‘different’ to me. And a few other games didn’t even try to make it look original. Though I guess trying to compete with Blizzard on that level would be very intimidating.

One of the games on the floor that caught our eye was Borderlands. This booth was comfortably situated between the Bioshock 2 display and the Nintendo area… needless to say I spent some time circling between these two and as a result ended up watching the Borderland trailer a few million times.

Here are the costumes I made and wore the first two days of PAX. I did “dress up” as Jynx on the third day and handed out cards, but unfortunately I forgot to take a picture.

By the end of the weekend everyone had collected a bunch of swag (lots of t-shirts), played some good games and got sick (except one of our friends). It was all worth it though, and I will defiantly be going again next year. I could go on about how awesome it was, but my arm is hurting and I’m sure only a handful of people are even going to read this far *laugh*.

On a different note, I’m going to go see the movie “9” tonight. I really hope its good, being a 3D animation grad makes it hard to not be critical at times. >_<
