A bit of a late comic today because I was procrastinating and my car needed a bit of attention and repair. So… I’m only gonna say it once… GOLD! There. I’m done. Such a great game too, so tense! I thought I was going to be sick when USA scored with 24 seconds left to put it into overtime, wow! Congratulations to Teams USA and Finland as well! The honking that insured after that game went on for hours, everyone was so pumped. ^____^ Though I assure you no serious thoughts of playing hockey were ever entertained. I can skate alright, but I’m sure if I tried with a stick and pads on, I wouldn’t be able to move an inch. And of course I’m too short.

Everything else this week seems so boring compared to last weekend. I’m slowly making my way though BioShock while Eve is at work and I’m not busy (which Isn’t often). >_> I’ve also been giving some thought to my cosplay for this year. This has ended up being a pretty big theme for the site and comic, so I’m probably going to start sharing more process and pictures on the site. So far the costumes I would like to make this year are;

The Lilith cosplay also inspired this months donation incentive, which is a wallpaper featuring Jynx dressed as everyone’s favorite flat-chested succubus. It’s almost finished, so I’ll be posting it tomorrow along with a bit more news.

Jynx vs. Han vs. Metalshit vs. Ji o_O

Today’s comic was inspired by a conversation and friend and I had about the Aliens vs. Predator game. It soon also became apparent to me after trying the demo briefly that it can sometimes take a little too long to deliver a final kill to another player (though it does look awesome). It left me very vulnerable, and I was killed right after feeling the momentary swell of victory *sniff*. It was pretty fun (of course I played Predator), though I would have preferred to try the campaign rather then online… saying I’m not very good at PVP is kind of an understatement. X_x Hopefully I’ll be able to try the whole game in the near future.

I’ve been a big Alien fan since I was a kid and started to really get into the Predator series after AVP came out (I know, a bit late). I may have taken it a bit far when making my first Pred cosplay, but it was so much fun. Eventually I’ll end up making a new suit, perhaps for the upcoming ‘Predators’ movie or if AVP 3 ever comes out. It’s really had for me not to get excited when all these new things are coming out. I might need to have a movie/comic marathon to bring me down. Haha

Wow, this took a ridiculous amount of time to finish… I played around with the format too much, and re-wrote it a couple times. No I did not make Captain Morgan roll-play with me. >_> But she (and one other friend, thank you Kieran!) DID give me the game for my birthday last week! My savior. <3 How awesome is that?

Anyways, I’m pretty close to killing and eating Eve right now… so I’ll update the rant and poll once I’ve had something to eat. >_<

Sometimes (ie. always) after finishing the comic, I’m not as excited about writing up a rant as I might have been beforehand… maybe I should write these things first. While I’m at it they could also be proofread and not have terrible spelling/grammar mistakes in them, but I’m sure we all know that wont be happening anytime soon. Hmmmm. So as the comic illustrates, Captain Morgan came to my rescue last week. Since then I’ve had a chance to play through a couple hours, and so far I love it. I’m really enjoying the narrative, it feels very smooth and poetic. When I say this I mean that the OST, sound effects, in-game events and water (glad there’s more this time) all add to the environment rather than take away or interrupt it. The first game was still very good at this, though this time it feels a bit more seamless… but this could just be my inner fan-girl talking out her ass here.

In other news, the Winter Olympics have started in my hometown and half the time I’m afraid to leave my house since I live smack in the middle of the festivities. I’ve never seen so much red and white in my life, or Canadian flags for that matter! Woohoo! Normally I only vaguely follow the Olympics, but It’s hard not to get all patriotic when its EVERYWHERE! At the very least I’m watching the hockey, and I picked up a sweet (sarcasm?) new hat. ^_^ It reminds me of South Park and features the least appreciated of the Olympic mascots, Mukmuk. He’s an endangered Vancouver Island marmot… Serious, I could not make this shit up.

Before this year, the closest I got to any sort of Olympics was when playing with Mario and Sonic. And let me tell you, that game is tiring! I worked up a serious sweat trying to Wii swim those lengths. I played one sitting of it and did not go back for seconds. It was fun, but personally, I prefer to keep my gaming and exercise separate (excepts when it comes to DDR).

Speaking of DDR… the Captain and I will still be having our dance-off as was written in the comic over six months ago! Personally, I think the reason for the delay is because she’s scared and knows I’m gonna kick her ass *cough*. So I refuse to write a comic about it until it actually happens. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Alright, I’m back. Drawing today’s comic started out being lots of fun, but ended a little rocky… not sure why, I think I was fussing with it too much. I do that a lot. I had fun drawing Ji, she is so cute and concerned in the comic (also very sweet IRL). Still working on getting Metalshit’s design concrete, I feel that I still need to push with more stylization… feels to0 rigid to me. And Jynx is just being crazy as usual. I’ve stopped hissing at people for the most part… but I’m still pretty good at it. >_> heh.

Also thanks to those who wished me a Happy Birthday. ^_^ I feel old!

I’ve slowed down a bit on my WoW binge to do work on my portfolio and the site. Though Eve has kept me up to date with the final Icecrown content and other goodies. The Lich King is dead (we knew it had to happen) *sniff* poor Arthas. Pretty cool end in-game cinematic, got me all lore hungry. =3

Phew, I’m back. I really wish there were more hours in a day, or that I stopped doing everything so sloooooooowly. Mr Raep Squid is such a strange filler character, but I like him. He seems quite sly too, willing to make a bargain right before Jynx and Ryan’s meet their ‘demise’ (death by cuddling of course) >_>. So it looks like Jynx, Eve and the Captain have a new basement dwelling roommate now. Ryan is always hating on my good ideas!

According to you guys Mass Effect 2 was the favorite game release last week, big surprise… BioShock 2 will also be on many peoples list next week, I’m pretty excited about it. AND it comes out the day before my birthday WooHoo!

So I also wanted to post the donation incentive teaser/button today but I’m not finished and I think I should probably get everything done first. This month I’ve made a batch of printable valentines cards featuring some of the GDPG characters themed with some of our favorite games. Another squid comic today, and Jynx has now found a stylish new cape (aka. purple towel/sheet) to wear. She would make a terrible superhero though. Imagine her at a final face-off with her arch nemesis ready to duke it out and save the world, when a cute little kitten walks by. She would walk away and play with it. That’s right people, Jynx would let you all die to pet a KITTEN! But who wouldn’t, right? heh.

While thinking about the new release games this week I did a little No More Heroes sketch of Sylvia Christel that ended up not really looking like her at all. >_> I worked on it a bit more and decided to make it into a wallpaper if anyone was interested. There is some strange anatomy going on in the drawing, though her breasts aren’t to bad. ^_^ Still need practice drawing those.

Also, thanks to everyone who voted on the last poll. I was quite surprised by the amount of people willing to donate if the monthly intensive was to their liking. Now I’m sure some people may have fibbed, but I think I might try it out anyway. I need all the help I can get right now and I have an interesting Valentines idea for February. I’ll try and get more info about this up next week.

Another page added to this insane ’storyline’ that will be taking place between the one shots. I will speak more of this after dinner. Alright, so I got a little distracted with rep grinding in WoW, sorry! I get distracted so easily sometimes. But really, this craziness is only a starting attempt at some plot. Mind you its going to be mostly silly and mental, since that’s the kind of person I am, and the comic is not at the forefront of things I need to work on right now. Still gotta find another studio job (hopefully full-time this time) >_<.

Also added a weekly poll to the site. Each one will be different, this week I’m interested in getting some feedback about adding a monthly donation intensive to see if people would be interested. They’ll likely be art based (wallpapers and images), with a teaser image posted at the beginning of each month. I’ve seen other sites/comics do this with some success. We’ll see, it’s really depends on what you gals and guys want.

I also understand that the majority of people wont donate, and most of the people who say maybe wont either. But I’m still curious about the number people who would to see if it’s worth the time to set up. If anyone has suggestions or comments feel free to email me or post something on the forum.

It’s late in the day… but I still managed to post today’s insane comic. Woohoo

The comic was loosely based on a conversation Eve and I had the other day, I swear… but I am still unsure of how Jynx managed to turn Eve into a salamander (sporting a look of disapproval), as funny as it is. He on the other hand, was not as amused. I think that’s a pretty good way to kick off the year! ^____^ *nervous laugh*

The rest of this rant will be posted tomorrow morning because I’m lazy right now and want to post a short review of 2009. blah blah. ಠ_ಠ

So I did make a few New Year’s resolutions for myself, none of which seriously involved superpowers. But I can dream. I would like to make this the year where I learn more about the  industry first hand and get some more experience. I’m going to be finishing up my online portfolio and trying to work on more 3d pieces. I feel that I’ve lost some of the technical skills I gained while at University. So back to practicing more and learning new rendering/shader techniques. T^T

This past year went by really fast for me. GDPG started in February and I’m really happy that I’ve stuck with it. I still have goals for the comic, so I’ll keep trying to improve for everyone reading. We also worked on a bit of cosplay this year. Making all the TF2 costumes and weapons was quite the ordeal, but worth it! I just don’t think I’ll be tackling that many costumes/props on my own at once again. Phew. We got the chance to wear these and other cosplay’s at two conventions this year; AE 2009 (which I go to each year) and finally PAX (we will be returning this year)! Both these events were awesome, with lots of great people.

For those who are going to Anime Evolution this year, I’ve applied for GDPG to have a table in the Artist Villa. YAH! Now I just need to conjure up some sweet merch, luckily I have until August.

I have to work harder this year! …and find more time/money to play all the new games coming out. And nothing will keep me from playing BioShock 2 this year! Nothing!!!

PSS. Yes, Avatar is an EPIC souped-up version of Ferngully (which I love btw). The graphics are amazing and yes, you should all see it. That is all.

I know my posts have been lacking recently, I’m sorry. Though tis the season to be bloody stressed as hell and busy, heh… at least for me it seems. I’m looking forward to ushering in the new year in style tomorrow, and it should make for an interesting comic next week. And depending how ‘fun’ the evening ends up being, I might try and see an IMAX screening of Avatar the next day.

I was a bit concerned that today’s comic wasn’t going to be completed because of computer failure. I got a nice new desk yesterday (with enough space to now hold my two widescreen monitors), and of course moving and hooking up a computer is far from difficult… but it would be too simple if all went according to plan. Seriously, I was pissed, it took voodoo magic to figure out what went wrong. It ended up being a stupid grounding issue from my videocard being nudged slightly. o_< *twitch*

Oh! Ryan gave me a Slapachop for Christmas! I was very excited. Now I just need to get a Shamwow… and unrelated, I also want a Snuggie one day. Yup, I’m a bad person. >_>

Last week I finished another commission that I haven’t shared yet. It’s another WoW picture, this time of an Undead rogue. I had to take some liberties with the style and design since undead aren’t very attractive.
