Live long and prosper
For anyone who couldn’t guess by now, this weeks comic is about the new Star Trek movie. Eve and I were very pleased after we saw it last Saturday, so much so that we are going to go see it again tonight. :3 After talking to Morgan and Eve about the film, it seemed quite apparent that the movie viewing experience differed greatly between women and men as the comic also illustrates. Apparently I’ll cry during Star Trek, but not during Shadow of the Colossus (mentioned a couple weeks back).
*Fangirl Alert* I felt the movie really delivered as being a reboot of the franchise for a new generation. Of course there were changes, but I feel good calls were made on what to alter and what should stay true to the original. The acting and casting was great (Hell yeah Zachary Quinto!) and there was a good balance of action and humor. Of course this gem doesn’t go without its criticisms, of which I’m sure true Trekkies will have many, but I can’t bring myself to nitpick about it yet… that and this isn’t a movie review site, so I’ll spare you. Though it defiantly has a strong case of being best movie of the year in my books, but we’ll just have to see how Transformers 2 and Terminator measure up. Unfortunately Wolverine has already dropped out of the running for me as it was somewhat of a disappointment. It wasn’t terrible, but I feel it wasn’t nearly as good as everyone hoped and expected it to be.
The comic this week also introduces the final (for the time being) GDPG character and another girl to the lineup, based off of a friend of mine; Morgan. Jynx sometimes refers to Morgan as Captain in reference to the totally awesome and classy Captain Morgan’s Rum trucker-hat she wears. There will be more on her and the other characters in the extended bio section that is still in the works. I’m really sorry about the delay on those, but I’ve had a bunch on my plate the past couple weeks with getting my portfolio ready and I also did some artwork for an iphone game this past week which will be out soon. I’ll post more info on that as it becomes available.
A higher res version of last weeks sketch was requested so I added it as a wallpaper in the downloads section for anyone who is interested. I also have some nice character wallpapers planned (from the bio pic’s) for the near future.
